NSF Chemistry Workshop
Matt and co-PI Gordana Dukovic (University of Colorado – Boulder) organized the 2018 NSF-CHE Early Career Investigator workshop in Alexandria, VA. The workshop brought together 100 junior faculty from a broad range of institutions and sub-fields of research with established investigators and numerous NSF staff to discuss strategies for crafting research ideas, planning educational and outreach activities, and assessing and evaluating project aims. Materials generated at the workshop are shared at go.carleton.edu/nsf2018/materials. Thanks to our speakers and all of NSF for supporting this important effort!

New Paper in Polyhedron
Matt has published a new paper in Polyhedron with collaborators from USC addressing the role of isomerism in luminescent properties of cyclometalated iridium complexes relevant to organic LEDs.
NSF Early Career Workshop
Matt has received a grant from NSF ($70k) with co-PI Gordana Dukovic (CU-Boulder) to organize the 2018 NSF CHE Early Career Investigator Workshop in Alexandria, VA. Please pass along the word to early-career chemists who could benefit from a workshop on proposal preparation. Further details can be found at the workshop website.

Our ruthenium work has just been published! Check out Binh, Jim, and Jason’s awesome work demonstrating silylene-assisted hydride transfer to CO2.
The Whited group has moved!
In anticipation of the demolition of Mudd Hall and the construction of a new integrated science facility (yahoo!), the Whited group has relocated our research space to Olin 10, 12, and 14. We will be conducting research in this space until mid-2019, when we will move into the new facility.
